MEMBER PROFILE:

Name:  Shae Singer

Occupation: a little of this a little of that.. electric car education and sales , event planning – no event to big or too small, retail goddess and lover of travel and all things canine

Something about you that we really didn't know:  my life is an open book- however most people do not know that I was probably a mermaid in a previous life.. LOVE LOVE water of all types, rivers, oceans, streams, lakes and of course snow! My golden retrievers- Daisy the Amazing and Lily -poochins come with me to enjoy the water too. have to have water dogs if you are a mermaid .. right?
How long have you been a member at Aspen Crossfit?

little over 1 year..

What class time do you normally attend?
9 am classes Mon. Wed and Friday and if I really wanna feel great the noon on Tues or Thursday
How did you find out about us? Casey Baty (now Fisher) and her mother Shirley Tipton. Shirley and I made a commitment to each other to attend together and we have!! Shirley is amazing and has gotten so strong.. She has lost over 35 pounds!
Tell us about your first workout and how you felt during/after:

No feeling. NUMB! actually it was wonderful. Thru HIgh School and College I was very active surfing, diving, sailing and traveling as I got older and more settled so did my muscles.  If you had asked me I would have said I was fit and strong.. NOT!

What benefits/accomplishments have you seen/ had since joining?
When I first began classes at Aspen Cross Fit, I was unable to run the short distance from the door to the end of the building without stopping. I weighed 25 pounds more and had trouble breathing while doing any sort of activity.  I was the person you walked around on the highlands bowl hike!  Now I can run around the whole AABC complex and jump in to the next work out component! I still have difficulty breathing thru the pounding heart, and sometimes get lightheaded..(mostly due to have only 1/1/4 lungs) however I know that too will improve even more than it has to date. Another landmark was the plank.. Due to some medical conditions my back was very very weak.. When I began cross fit I could hold the plank, maybe on a good day, 15 seconds Now I am almost  up to 2 minutes.. not a long time for some but incredible for me!
What are you future goals in the gym?
I am determined to learn to kip into a pull up without bands and to do more than 2 double unders in a row.  GEEZE they have been such a tuff goal for me to accomplish but I am not giving up!
My challenges:
No hard sour candies and no rice!  Staying committed to the program with no excuses. Seems like when it is nice and sunny I find all sorts of reasons not to go to the box, then my body and spirit remind me why it is so important! My challenge is really to promise myself that I am the most important thing for at least 1 hour a day.. nothing can interfere with it and just DO IT!
My favorites:
LOVE the encouragement I get from the coaches at the work out.
Clay has helped with my body alignment so that  the Workouts make a positive impact with less injury pain. I am so happy to part of a place a regime that is about individual growth for both body and spirit. This is one of the most positive forms of work out I have ever been involved with. LOVE the elimination of words that have no true meaning and that just hold you back.. change the mind you change the body! Erik never ceases to make me think with his daily quotes and thoughts.. The combination is the only way to start the day!!
Favorite WOD/ workout when you are "thinkin' outside the box:"
A 1/4 mile walk -thigh deep- in a crystal clear ocean one way then a swim back the other. coconut over head thrust and sit ups in the sand.. Or maybe top to bottom bumps on scarlets without stopping.. sort of like air squats but not! CAn't forget the winter hikes keeping up with the Goldens up the pass in the snow!
Personal message to anyone that might be considering Crossfit:
The power is in you. The answer is in you. And you are the answer to all your searches: you are the goal. You are the answer. YOU make it happen. Cross fit helps facilitates your goals.
