CROSSFIT, Aspen Crossfit…I love it. I started last March after seeing my sister-n-law’s body change and get stronger. I thought: I am athletic, I grew up here, I can ski, bike, run, do anything -I'll try it. But, I had no idea that I would fall in love with crossfit, and that it would become part of who I am. I even remember telling Erik that I was only going to do it until summer, because I loved to road bike, and being a mom of a 4 and 7 year old there is only so much time to get in a little exercise for yourself. Well, that didn't happen, I loved crossfit so much that when summer arrived, I started to go to the 6 am class. I was back home before the house hold woke up. Now I love that time, and go 3 or 4 times a week. We have a great group at 6 am; it is like a little family
Since I started crossfit I have been amazed by the change in strength in my body, again I thought I was strong before, but I was wrong. Now I can bike to the bells, pulling my 4 year old AND enjoy the moment! I am able to be a part of the beauty surrounding me, and I’m not thinking "oh god my legs", since they are so strong. Skiing this winter has been a breeze too, I can ski any run, and my legs and body are strong and not killing me. Crossfit makes life enjoyable.
Erik told me "crossfit is a way of life", I was thinking," yea right, I am just here to lose a little baby weight", I was SO wrong. It did become part of my life, and I truly love it. He also wouldn't stop talking about "paleo", this took me awhile to warm up too, but again-I love it! I only cook paleo now for myself and my family. My body works so much better since I’m dedicated to the paleo way of life. I will never go back to eating the way I had been.
People ask me all the time, "Why do you like crossfit?" And my answer is always the same, “Because, when would I ever sit around and do 100 pushups, sit-ups, squats, pull-ups? I enjoy doing a full body work out.”
I can't imagine my life without crossfit. My family is moving to Oxford, MS for a year, and Sean (fellow crossfitter) is supposed to be opening a gym there. PLEASE OPEN IT! I will be the first one to sign up!
"BE STRONG"…that is what I think of myself and aspen crossfit
Thank you Erik and Clay for introducing me, encouraging me, and pushing me! This has changed my life. I always told myself I would be strong going into my 40's and now I truly believe I will.
